This season's Nothern Grand Tournament will be held on Saturday 23/09/23 at Boards and Swords Hobbies in Derby and will be a Constructed Canvas Format

Timings and Structure:

Registration: 12pm

Game 1: 1pm

Matches are 1v1 and are best of three, with a time limit of 25 minutes per match.

For our Grand Tournament, we play this over 5 Swiss rounds. After this, the top 4 players (top 8 if more than 32 players) are matched up randomly for Semi-finals. With the winners playing once more in the Grand Final.

Event will run for roughly four hours. There'll be prizes for top places.

All ages and levels of experience are welcome. We'd recommend having some experience with playing Achroma though. We'll be playing using the latest, most up-to-date version of the Achroma gameplay rules

Some games may be filmed or live streamed.

Tournament held at:
Boards and Swords Hobbies,

3 Jubilee Parkway,

Stores Road,

Derby,

DE21 4BJ

Tournament Rules:
Cards will not be provided so please bring your own Palette. For Canvas Palette build requirements, see the Achroma Formats page.

Some Achroma cards have received an update. These updates are often a change to wording to clarify a gameplay ability, but in some rare cases an Achroma card has had a bigger change, such as Murky Manor. Cards in this tournament will be played as if they are the latest, most up-to-date version. (e.g. your First Edition Murky Manor card is legal, but it will be played as if it is the Unlimited Edition version.) Any changes, as well as useful FAQ can be found in the Achroma card database

Players may bring multiple Palettes, but may only switch between matches, not during a best of three matchup.

Before each round starts, each player should cut their opponent’s Palette (Lifting a random pile of cards from the top, and placing them unseen to the bottom of the Palette). This should be enforced by staff running the event.

Players may have their own card sleeves, but they should all be a single colour/colourless, with no stickers or markings. This is to avoid either player gaining an advantage by knowing a card by its sleeve markings.

The first match-ups in this event are randomized. Matches are 1v1 and are best of three, with a time limit of 25 minutes per match. After 25 minutes, the current active player finishes their turn, and then each player gets one more turn. If there is no winner at this point the game is declared a draw. Subsequent rounds are Swiss style (matching similar records against each other). There will be 5 Swiss rounds.

Please note: you will not receive a physical ticket.
